In British Columbia, gas work must be done by a licensed gas fitter working for a licensed gas contractor, and most jobs need a Technical Safety BC installation permit. That is not red tape; it is what keeps a gas leak from becoming a headline. ACAP Plumbing is licensed for gas work and handles the permit and inspection on every job.
What we install
- New gas lines and extensions for ranges, cooktops and dryers.
- Outdoor lines for BBQs, patio heaters and fire tables.
- Gas fireplace and furnace connections.
- Gas water heater installation and replacement.
How a gas job works
We size the line for the total load on your meter, run it in approved material with proper supports and shutoffs, pressure test it, and book the inspection. You get the permit paperwork for your records, which also matters when you sell the house.
Questions we get asked
Do I need a permit to add a gas BBQ line?
Yes. In BC a gas installation permit is required for new gas piping, and it must be done by a licensed gas fitter.
Can you convert my range from electric to gas?
If there is gas service to the house and capacity on the meter, usually yes. We confirm capacity before quoting.
I smell gas. What should I do?
Leave the building, do not switch anything on or off, and call FortisBC's emergency line from outside. Call us once the leak is made safe.
